Chevron Lace Cardi - Working the Sleeve Split

Things are moving along well now that I've got the sleeves defined.  The instructions in the pattern are written well and I didn't have any trouble finding my marks and then adding a ch 10 (for my size L) between them.
I was a bit confused as to where to put the first dc when I got to the ch 10 working in the pattern, but a bit of faith and a few tries and it worked out fine.  I did 4dc, skip 2ch, 4dc in the ch 10 and it's perfect!
I did have to do a bit of frogging though, and here's why: I started the sleeves on Row 16.  When I tried it on with just the markers holding it together I thought I had it right, so I went ahead and crocheted two rows.  When I put it on again it was clear that the sleeves (arm pit) would be too low, so out it came.  I took the pictures you see here first though to remind me how to work that split!
This time I split at Row 15 (I'm not counting the first 3 Rows of the Cowl).  It was much easier and quicker the second time around.  I tried it on with just one row done and the fit seems much better.  Nice and close to the underarm without a lot of bunching in front.  Now it should be smooth sailing until I get to the length I want it to be.  I'm thinking that I'll make it to fall just past the hip.  Although I have cropped sweaters, I tend not to wear them as I like a bit more coverage!
That's all for now!
Until next time,
