Cool Cotton Clean-Up

7/13/2012

Here on the east coast of the US the weather has been hot. Dreadfully hazy, hot and humid. The atmospheric elements that are the least conducive to getting your creative groove on. At least for me they are! Desperate for light and easy projects I decided that I was onto something with my Tunisian washcloth. Scanning the Ravelry library of patterns I found lots and lots of washcloths. Here are two that I finished this week:
Picture
Both patterns are from Lion Brand. They're quick and easy and it felt so good to be able to whip one of these babys up in an evening - even after a long day of packing the books at the library. (We're moving so we can have an addition built - very exciting, and very hard work!)

The orange variegated cotton is a DK weight (?) from my stash. No idea of any specifics as it was a freebie without a label. But it's pretty and nice to work with.  As much as I like that one, I have to admit that I am in love with the Peaches & Cream cotton stripes. The colorway is Sweet Pea and I want to make something to wear out of it! It's soft and comfy and I think the colors are terrific together!

On Fridays I like to link up and visit my friends at these terrific blogs. There are always lots of great projects to see and wonderful new people to meet. Why don't you come with me?

That'll do it for me this week.
Until next time friends,
Be blessed and stitch & read with love!

In case you were wondering about my Five Minute Friday writing in the raw - Lisa Jo is on vacation this week. I thought about picking my own prompt, or even asking John for one, but then I got lazy and decided not to.
I really need that structure to keep on task!
I do enjoy this writing exercise and encourage you to give it a try at least once if you've never done it. Who knows what kind of story you might have inside you!

I love quick and instantly pleasing projects in summer. But I love winter for the bigger warmer projects. I am sure I am going to remember your FO's when we go back into summer and I am stashbusting through my cotton

Thanks Heather! I have a pretty crummy camera so I work hard to use the sunlight and take lots and lots of shots to get a few good ones!! Your comment lets me know it's worth the effort!

I'd be in the same boat as you if we were having the same heat wave - cotton would be about all I could handle. Love the colors on both.

And I'll just have to wait until next week for another 5 minute write from you. :)

Your washcloths are great! I like them both and don't know which one to pick! Maybe the second one, because of its colours!
But I have a stupid question to pose: What's the washcloth for???

Oh my gosh I am swooning over that second one. The first one is super cute but something about the second one has me all girly and stuff. Thanks for making your way to my blog! I have a total blogcrush on you!

The orange yarn looks like Panda Silk. I have that same yarn. I am pretty darn sure it looks like the same yarn.

Both are beautiful!

You could very well be right. I thought it was cotton, but I'm totally guessing. I looked on line and it has the same sheen/shimmer as other Panda Silks. I didn't find that exact color, but that's probably because it's discontinued. Thanks for the tip and sharing your fiber smarts!!

Those are lovely washcloths, it is so satisfying to use up stash and make something quick and pretty isn't it?

I love both washcloths (they look perfect and very functional!), but the first one is my absolute favorite!

I totally agree with you - there is nothing nicer to complete a project after a hard day at work, that's why I love crochet so much.
your washcloths are gorgeous and I particular love how yu alternated the different colours on the second one.

Thank your for visiting my blog and stopping by - glad I got introduced to your blog that way

Lovely washcloths, and right you are...it's always good to get something finished, quickly and something that's light when the weather is........heavy! I enjoyed my knitting time in Park City, as it was cooler then here. Library moving......yikes that sounds like a lot of work...keeping things organized to reshelf properly.........wow. Best of luck and many thanks for the visit.
