I recently posted a pictorial how-to on crocheting the cluster shell stitch. While taking the pictures for the post I decided to shoot a few short videos as well, because sometimes it helps to see someone go through the motions. Without further ado I give you my video debut!

I've seen many stitches that have been called "shell stitch" including one very similar to the one you show here. It appears to form a very nice fabric but I just can't see the shells.

Hi Richard,
I understand where you're coming from - I think the reason this is called a shell (in the Marlo Coat pattern) is because of the technique - working multiple stitches into the same stitch/space. This one has the "cluster" element too in that it's got a chain stitch connecting stitches worked into the same space. That's why I call it the cluster shell. In the end - what's in a name right? It's all about the fabric and this one is quite nice I think! Thanks for visiting and sharing your thoughts,
